Vizovice lies about 14 km east of Zlín, in the foothills of the Vizovice Hills, at the confluence of the Lutoninka and Bratřejovka rivers. The town has approximately 4,800 residents.

The first written record of Vizovice dates to 1261, and it became a town in 1570. The Baroque Vizovice Chateau was built by the Blümegen family to a design by František Antonín Grimm and completed in 1778.
